Finance and Performance

The Finance Team takes care of four main areas of responsibility. These are regulatory, transactional, business partnering and democratic process support. Regulatory involves compulsory milestones in the year which a action needs to be taken, for example in September they do the Annual Statement of Accounts and in March they do Treasury Management reports along with Annual Budget and Council Tax Setting reports. Transactional includes paying suppliers, maintaining asset registers, maintaining cash balances & cash investments and so forth. These two responsibilities highlight the underpinning nature of Finance, playing an integral role in the running of the council.

While on work experience you may get involved in:

  • General office administration
  • Assisting in daily finance procedures
  • Attending meetings
  • Shadowing members of the team use the internal finance system
  • Help respond to finance/performance queries
