Families and Communities

The West Suffolk Families and Communities team places an emphasis on supporting communities to tackle local issues themselves and preventing crises. To support councillors in their local community leadership role, staff are allocated wards across West Suffolk. While councillors are at the heart of the strategy, the team works with them directly to identify community assets, understanding community needs, encouraging community self-sufficiency and celebrating achievements.

While on placement you may have the chance to;

  • Help organise community or school events
  • Attend and help on event day
  • Do general office administration
  • Attending meetings on a range of topics relating to health and social care, childrens services, leisure and culture
  • Data collection and input
