Economic Growth and Development

Economic Growth and Development department have six key responsibilities. These are to meet and understand West Suffolk businesses, promote the economic region, support the market towns, ensure the right conditions for growth, developing skills and employment while capitalising upon key sectors. A placement in this service will give you an understanding of the large scale planning of economies whilst getting experience of day-to-day administrative tasks to aid this. You will be able to gain insight into the local area and future planning initiatives.

Some key activities you might be involved in during the placement include:

  • Carrying out business research
  • Have the opportunity to get out into the community and visit local businesses
  • Attending team meetings
  • General administrative tasks
  • Updating Business Profiles
  • Contribute to planning and organising upcoming events
  • Input information onto database
  • Shadow and assist Growth Officers in day-to-day tasks
