Communications and Customer Service

Communications and Customer Services Team are offering a valuable placement for students. Communications deal with the external and internal media relations, social media, publications while advising on the cost-effective publicity and public engagement methods. This work has direct links to marketing, journalism and PR. Customer Services are those who work on the front line delivering phone, face to face and online help. This covers the plethora of services within the council. This is a large scale project as in 2015/16 they received 150,000 phone calls, 70,000 face to face contacts and 36,000 online enquiries.

Some key activities you might be involved in during the placement include:

  • Working on a specific project; putting together a pack of information for Councillors to help them find out information and statistics about the areas they are responsible for, with examples and links
  • Attend Team Meetings
  • Shadow members of the team
  • General administrative tasks
