Internship programme overview in Suffolk

Applications for the 2018 internship placements are now open click here.

The internship programme is designed to encourage young people to take up careers in the public sector and to provide paid opportunities for undergraduates to experience working for us during their summer break from university.

The internship programme consists of a 12 week paid work placement supported by group development opportunities.

Placements: You will have the opportunity to work on challenging, stretching and worthwhile projects. These projects are of real value to the organisation and you will be given real responsibility for aspects of the work.

Induction: All interns will attend an introduction to the organisation and the internship programme. This will consist of a chance to meet some key people in the organisation along with an induction within the team you will be working.

Development: You will have the opportunity to access intern development sessions during your time as an intern and you will also be allocated a buddy to help you along the way. The programme involves various opportunities to further understand the organisation and develop work based skills through group activities outside of your placement. Interns also take part in a group project within their district which is allocated alongside their regular daily and project work.

Placement reviews: Your progress will reviewed periodically with your placement manager. Clear objectives will be set at the beginning of the programme so you know if you are on track.

Salary: This is paid internship opportunity. You will be paid the national minimum wage for your age group.
